Pill Harriers 10 - 62 NHSOB 2nds (Tredegar Park)
Important game for the seconds, after recent heavy defeats. Nothing better for brushing the cobwebs off after 'six nations layoff' than playing in a local derby.
Pill struggled a little to put a team on the park, but thanks to a few 'Legends', they were not going to let the club down. typical start with both teams going 'hammer and tongs' into one another with no backward step taken by either team.
The conditions were good, but the 'Oldboys' coped better with the adverse windy conditions, with Alan 'the sarie' Thomas providing fantastic ball for a rejuvinated Nick Penn, who took everything that was thrown at him in the lineout.
With a good platform provided by the 'Oldboys' pack, the backs were able to produce some fantastic attacking rugby - everything 'clicked' and nearly every move ended with points on the board, with a number of players getting their names on the scoresheet.
Phil Hanley (Marmite) had one of his best games in an 'Oldboy' top and must surely be in the running for a place in the first team if this form continues.
Gareth Cook picked up 'Dick of the Day' due to being continuously 'bounced' by various Pill players (mainly backs)
Good News - A rare sighting of 'Legendary Rugby League Player' (couldn't play Union) Neil Cammies, Muttering to himself (due to lack of friends) that he may return!!! Watch this space...
