Sunday 19th April: NHSOB U9's travelled to Parc Nelson to take part in the Nelson minis & juniors tournament ......
In their second match the U9's took on Tredegar who led at the interval through an excellent long range try. NHSOB worked extremely hard to get themselves back into the match and eventually levelled through a determined Morgan May. Unfortunately, just as it looked as though a second hard earned draw was on the cards, the NHSOB defence fell asleep and allowed Tredegar to score the winning try from the restart. Final Score: 1-2
NHSOB then played further games against Nelson and Rhymney but, again, in very closely contested affairs, lost both games 0-1.
Overall, although the U9's only managed one draw, their three losses were all by a single score and, had lady luck been smiling on them, could have just as easily won the tournament as all the sides who competed were very evenly matched.
In the first match, NHSOB took on eventual winners of the tournament Bargoed. The first half was scoreless with both sides defences on top but straight from the second period kick-off, Iwan Nolan collected the ball and ran through the entire Bargoed defence to score a great try. Bargoed then exerted immense pressure on the NHSOB line, finally going over to tie the match. Final Score (tries) 1-1
