NHSOB Under 7’s & 8’s V Abertillery - Sunday 28th February 2010

NHSOB Under 7’s & 8’s hosted Abertillery in a hope to avenge their pre season defeat. The team captained by man of the match Dylan Pollock didn’t disappoint. The Old Boys opened the scoring when Tomos Brenan picked the ball up deep in his own half and weaved his way through Abertillery’s defence to touch down.

This was quickly followed by Ellie Robinson running in a try of her own. NHSOB then started moving the ball along the line. They offloaded the ball superbly in the tackles and the move finished with Harri Lloyd-Evans scoring the Old Boys 3rd try.

As Abertillery started to push for a score of their own the Old Boys defence stood strong and Tomos Brenan intercepted a pass and ran in for his second try of the game. The first 3rd ended with Harri Lloyd-Evans scoring his second to leave the score 5 - 0 to the NHSOB.

The 2nd third proved to be a lot tougher. Abertillery made a few changes and began strongly. Only some robust defence by Luca Hoole, Ellie Robinson and Tomos Brenan kept them out. This didn’t stop Abertillery and they finally got their rewards as they broke through the Old Boys defence to score.

Both teams were attacking strongly but the defensive lines were holding up well. It took a piece of individual skill by Luca Hoole to level the scores. He picked the ball up from deep in his own half and with a quick turn of pace and some fancy footwork he broke through the tackles to score.

The 3rd was looking to end in a draw until Liam McDonald got the ball and ran at Abertillery’s defence. He caught them cold and made a lot of ground until he was tagged. Liam offloaded the ball brilliantly to Luca Hoole who scored and the 3rd ended 2 - 1 to the Old Boys.

In the final 3rd the whole team shone. They attacked with speed and defended as a solid unit. They put into practice all that they learnt at training and it led to a fantastic display of rugby. NHSOB won the 3rd 3 - 0 with 2 trys from Luca Hoole and 1 from Tomos Brenan.
