NHSOB U8’s played host to Abergavenny this week and straight from the off the Old Boys showed their attacking intent. The team took the ball up the pitch exchanging passes as they went and as the Abergavenny team were sucked into the breakdown area the ball was passed out to Spenser Smith who ran in for the 1st try of the game.
NHSOB continued to pressure the Abergavenny defence throughout the 1st half and it paid off with 2 excellent individual tries from Oliver Andrew and Tomos Sharwood, both weaving their way through the defensive line to touch down leaving the ½ time score 3 - 0.
Abergavenny came out for the 2nd half and showed they weren’t just making up the numbers as they laid siege on the Old Boys try line. It was only for the yet again excellent defensive work of captain Thomas Brenan and man of the match Dylan Pollock that prevented Abergavenny from scoring. As the Old Boys continued to push Abergavenny back Luca Hoole got hold of the ball and left everyone behind him as he raced for the line to touch down for NHSOB.
Following on from that score the Old Boys attacked down the wing with an excellent run by Dylan Pollock and with a superb off load to Luca the Old Boys scored again taking the game to 5 - 0. With the whole team putting in what is possibly their best performance of the season so far one the newest members of the team, Liam McDonald picked up a lose ball and ran the length of the pitch to score with the last play of the game. Another fantastic display by the Old Boys finishing off 6 - 0 winners.
