NHSOB played Caerleon RFC under 12s at NHSOB this week. Generally a disappointing game for NHSOB. Which saw a reversal of the previous 37 5 win over this team. NHSOB have previously beaten this team over the last four fixtures. This may have led to their downfall on this occassion as they were taken by suprise at the strenght of the attack by Caerleon.Right from the start they were attacking with commitment and NHSOB found themselves defending thier line. The first try and conversion went to Caerleon and this was followed by and unconverted try to put the score at 12 -0 to Caerleon. NHSOB continued to defend and managed to break out of their half with a good run from their own 22. moving the ball fast and wide until it was picked up by Ashley Gibson who took the ball at pace. He took the ball over the line to score. THe conversion was taken byTom Rice. Which had the distance and height but not the direction. The ball going wide of the post by several feet.
Tackling had become weak and NHSOB allowed Caerleon to score several times by failing to tackle the opposition. To much ball watching and a lack of belief in themselves made ot worse and prevented a come back. Notable performaces from some of the newer players Shaun Brosnan, and Kain who were one of the few who made good tackles. The final score was 26-6 to Caerleon.
