NHSOB RFC U12S V CROESYCEILIOG RFC U12S SUNDAY FEB 21st 2010
Please use this report for NHSOB V Croesyciliog
NHSOB found themselves on the back foot having to defend in their own half for several minutes. A bone crunching tackle from Jack Francis in his first game for NHSOB resulted in the ball going forward and won a scrum for NHSOB on the 22 metre line. Good scrummage work by props Joshua Wall and Ethan with a clean hook from Sean Conlon provided quick ball for Ben Prosser. A long pass to Charlie Wheeler-Jones, who off loaded to Isaac Rowland’s and a well executed miss pass was picked up by Joshua Ford who made the opening score after NHSOB had been under intense The try was converted by Tom Rice. (Score 7-0)
Croesyceiliog responded with attacking rugby. NHSOB made a clearance kick by Charlie Wheeler-Jones putting NHSOB in a strong position. Connor Shefford took the lineout beating the by snatching the high ball and delivering it into Ben Prossers. He passed wide across the backs taken well by Kain Hooper who made good ground before passing to Ashley Gibson to score ( 12 - 0).
NHSOB were able to secure the lead with try by Josh Ford, converted by Ashley Gibson. Score 19-0. Croesyceiliog came back with forward play and secured a penalty Nhsob knocked on and Croesyceiliog took advantage of possession and played the whistle by clearing through the NHSOB for a try by Bayliss which was converted to make the score 19-7 .
The restart was strong Croesyceiliog had changed tactics using the forwards to carry the ball. The team settled and NHSOB opened with another try from Ashley Gibson which he also converted with a long kick from the touch line (Score 26-7) Croesyceiliog secured another try. (score 26 12) again NHSOB gave away a penalty for going over the top. Ethan was given a yellow card. NHSOB appeared to find an inner strength and they worked as a team. Shaun Brosnon made ground from the halfway and presented the ball back. The ball moved out wide across the backs and was picked up by Ethan Churchill who took the ball forward into contact and set back the ball which was cleared by Kain Hooper straight into the hands of Ashley Gibson who scored and kicked the conversion to take the score to 33.12.

NHSOB RFC U 12s v Bridgend Athletic RFC U 12s.
Feb 14th 2010
This was the first time NHSOB had travelled to Bridgend to play against this team outside the annual
tournament. The weather was kind with clear skies and reasonable temperatures. The game started with
a flurry of activity by the home side and an early try put NHSOB on the back foot. This followed a long
period of pressure which left NHSOB defending. They held up well but the pressure proved too much
and a series of missed tackles led to two consecutive tries to put the score up to 15-0.
NHSOB tried hard and Charlie Wheeler-Jones put his body on the line taking the ball into contact and
making heavy tackles. He was unfortunately side lined following a knee in the head which closed his eye
when it swelled up. He recovered quickly after first aid treatment and continued to play. NHSOB were by
this time trying to fight back but there were several misfortunes, one too many a knock on`s, forward
passes and unlucky bounces added to the problems. By this time Bridgend had put 40 points on the
board and were on a role. Every ball went to hand and the referee decisions went their way right up to
the final whistle. The final score 50 -0 to Bridgend. The score line suggests
a one sided game. This was far from an embarrassing defeat, we can proud of the individual
performances and a great bunch off lads who accepted the result with dignity and recognised the
outstanding oppositions play. Rugby at this age is about playing the game and enjoying themselves not
winning at all costs. There were notable performances from NHSOB Charlie Wheeler-Jones, Gareth
Perkins, Joshua Wall and Sean Conlon worked hard and coped well under pressure from a strong
Bridgend side. Kain Hooper Shaun Brosnon and Hakeem Alban are starting to establish themselves in
the team. All of whom coped well under pressure and continued to work hard right up to the end.The
lads took the loss well and were quick to recognise the quality of the opposition and I know they will be
looking to reverse the situation when the meet again in April

NHSOB RFC U12s V CAERLEON RFC U12s
FEB 7TH 2010
NHSOB hosted Caerleon RFC under 12s at the YEW Tree Lane Club. The meeting of the two teams from the same Village always generates some friendly rivalry and produces some competative rugby. The teams are by now well know to each other. Many are friends in school and others are known through the close association with each other.
The game started and NHSOB was under attack from a determined Caerleon team NHSOBs defence was not able to withstand the heavy pressure and Caerleon opened the scoring with a well worked try which was duly converted. This was followed by a period of further pressure which led to a try for Caerleon but the conversion was missed.NHSOB countered with a try Ashley Gibson which Tom Rice narrowly missing the conversion to set the score at 12-5 at Half time.
The second half was very much the same but NHSOB failed to score and allowed Caerleon to add a furher 14 points without reply The score at the final whistle was 26-5 in Caerleons favour.

NHSOB v Abergavenny Easter 09
NHSOB were invited to take part in a Mini Rugby Festival by Abergavenny RFC. This proved to be a very enjoyable day.
There were several games and the quality of the play was very high. NHSOB under 12s did very well enjoying a win against
the host side. The highlight of the day was to play against a visiting team on tour from Cholet in France. (See pictures below)

NHSOB V Cholet (FRANCE) Pictures
NHSOB played a strong gameand led for most of the game. Cholet were just a try behind us for most of the
game. They equalised just three minutes before the end of the game and a try in the last 30 seconds clinched
the game for Cholet. Altogether a pleasing result for both teams as the game was closely fought to the end.
We look forward to playing them again in the future.

Many thanks to Abergavenny RFC for inviting us to take part in their festival
Bude On Tour

NELSON RFC TOURNAMENT 2009NHSOB the Mini Section attended the Nelson RFC Tournament and enjoyed a fair amount of success. The current under 12s were actually playing as under 11s as this tournament took place at the end of last season. Once again this was a good day out for the players and families and a time to enjoy rugby in excellent weather and top up the tan at the same time.
