NHSOB under 12 v Caerleon under 12s SEPT 09
This week NHSOB were hosted by Caerleon RFC.
This has become a regular early season fixture between the two neighbouring clubs. Both team are based in Caerleon and have managed to transcend the usual derby rivalry between two clubs from the same village. Both teams of supporters were treated to outstanding rugby from both teams. NHSOB RFC opened the score board with a try from Connor Shefford which was converted by Ashley Gibson. This was followed by a try from Tom Phillips and converted by Toby Bale. This equalised the score for Caerleon. The game continued at pace with NHSOB scoring another four times without reply in the first half of the game. Half time score 35 – 7
The second half saw a change of pace as Jermaine Taylor came on for Caerleon and his pace and ball skills provided Caerleon with four tries and four conversions. NHSOB held firm with strong play in the forwards and the quick ball led to four more tries and conversions. This made the final score 56 for NHSOB and 40 for Caerleon. Both teams can be proud of the outstanding rugby they produced. Strong forward play in the contact area won the game for NHSOB the front row played well and the second row partnership between Joshua Wall and Gareth Perkins proved to be effective in the lineout.
Strong play by Corinth Jones, Ben Prosser, Sean Conlon, Charlie Wheeler –Jones and Ethan Churchill ensured the win with strong attack, defence and quick movement of the ball.
The Caerleon RFC put in strong tackles and the speed of Jermaine Taylor led the counter attack in the second half of the game. The hard work of Toby Bale and Tom Phillips was instrumental in the final score. Both teams left the field to a standing ovation from the parents and many other spectators who stopped to watch this outstanding performance of both teams.
