NHSOB U10’s returned to winning ways with a narrow victory in an absolute thriller at Croesyceiliog. The home side took an early lead but Morgan May crashed over from close range to draw the visitors level. Croesyceiliog then re-took the lead before Sam Taylor equalised for NHSOB with a strong run. The home side were not to be denied, and their superior speed led to another try in the right hand corner just before the interval. (HT: 15-10)
Dylan Smith levelled the scores again with an opportunist try down the blind-side from a scrum in the left hand corner. However, back came Croesyceiliog with yet another fine try, following some excellent passing, to retake the lead. NHSOB exerted huge pressure on the Croesyceiliog tryline with excellent tackling, typified by Darren Whelton and man of the match Jack Mineur. This pressure finally told when the home side dropped the ball behind their own tryline and Alexi Webb fell on the loose ball to score. NHSOB then had the momentum and as the home side tired, Alexi Webb crossed in the left hand corner with the very last play of the game to give the visitors the lead for the first time in the match and victory. It was an exciting match and a credit to bith sets of players in very difficult wet conditions.
